Elementary Family · Grades 1–5
Growing Stronger Every Year.
Elementary school at RISE is about more than moving from one grade to the next. These are the years when scholars begin discovering what they are capable of.
We combine high academic expectations with small-group instruction, targeted support, engaging experiences, and strong relationships with families to help scholars strengthen their skills, build confidence, and develop the habits that lead to lasting academic success.
At RISE, growth isn't reserved for scholars who are behind. Every scholar should have opportunities to keep growing.
01 · Learning
Learning at RISE
Challenge. Support. Growth.
RISE scholars are expected to work hard, think deeply, and continue challenging themselves—and we believe they deserve the support necessary to meet those expectations.
Our elementary classrooms combine structured literacy and mathematics instruction with small-group learning and targeted academic support. For scholars in grades K–2, Fletcher Academy provides additional opportunities to strengthen foundational literacy skills.
Scholars ready to push themselves further can complete optional STAR Packets, designed to strengthen proficiency and extend learning throughout the month. Scholars who rise to the challenge receive special recognition during our monthly Character Assemblies.
Because academic growth looks different for every child, our teachers maintain regular communication with families so that school and home can work together to identify where a scholar needs additional support—and where they are ready for a greater challenge.
02 · Celebrating Growth
Growth Worth Celebrating
Hard work deserves to be recognized.
At RISE, we want scholars to see progress as something worth working toward and celebrating.
Through experiences such as our i-Ready Triathlon, scholars work toward academic goals by completing designated i-Ready assignments and progressing through three achievement phases. Along the way, they earn school celebrations such as an in-school movie experience or a glow party.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) are also an important part of our school culture. We intentionally recognize effort, progress, positive choices, character, and achievement so scholars understand that success isn't only about where you finish— it's also about how much you grow along the way.
03 · Our Community
Excellence Close to Home
Our community deserves an exceptional school.
Change takes time. But our time is now.
Families should not have to believe that pursuing an excellent education means leaving their own community.
RISE exists to challenge that idea.
We believe every scholar deserves access to high expectations, strong instructional leadership, committed educators, and the support necessary to reach their full potential.
Our scholars continue to demonstrate what is possible when those things come together. At RISE, we aren't lowering expectations based on where a child starts. We're creating the conditions for scholars to grow beyond them.
04 · Enrichment
Explore. Create. Move. Discover.
Learning has more than one language.
A strong elementary education should develop the whole child.
Throughout grades K–5, RISE scholars participate in STEM, art, music, and physical education, giving them opportunities to experiment, create, move, problem-solve, and discover interests beyond their core academic subjects.
For scholars who want to explore even further, after-school opportunities currently include programs such as First Tee, Wonderfully Me, and Scouting.
Elementary scholars can also raise their voices through Voices of Unity, creating another opportunity for connection, expression, and a sense of belonging.

05 · Experiences
Experiences That Make Learning Bigger
Because some lessons shouldn't stay inside four walls.
Elementary scholars participate in at least four field trips each year, creating opportunities to connect classroom learning with places, people, and experiences beyond campus.
Scholars also have opportunities to participate in community service each year, helping them begin to understand that what they learn and who they become can make a difference beyond themselves.
These experiences help scholars become curious learners, engaged community members, and confident young people.
06 · Independence
Growing Independence
Preparing today for what comes next.
Independence doesn't suddenly begin in middle school at RISE. We build toward it.
Beginning in third grade, scholars transition between classes and learn from teachers dedicated to different subject areas. This gives them opportunities to practice organization, responsibility, transitions, and adapting to different classroom expectations while they still have the support and familiarity of their elementary school community.
By the time middle school arrives, greater independence doesn't have to feel completely new. Our scholars have already started practicing it.
07 · Character
Character Grows Here
Who you become matters as much as what you achieve.
Throughout the year, scholars explore a different character trait each month and practice demonstrating those traits in their classrooms, relationships, and choices.
Our K–2 and 3–5 Character Assemblies give scholars opportunities to come together, recognize one another, and celebrate academic accomplishments, character, effort, and growth.
RISE stands for Resilience, Integrity, Scholarship, and Excellence. As our elementary scholars grow academically, we're also helping them understand what those values look like in action.

08 · Support
More Support When It's Needed
Sometimes a scholar needs additional time, support, or another approach.
Through our partnership with Two Steps Tutoring, families can access after-school tutoring support to help scholars continue strengthening skills beyond the regular school day.
By combining small-group instruction, targeted academic support, opportunities for additional challenge, and regular family communication, we work to create multiple pathways for scholars to reach their full potential.
